Hearts & Rockets’ new synth-heavy single ‘The Promise’, sounds like the indie sleeze offspring of The Cramps and The B-52's, Kalindy’s bratty vocals demand servitude, while Kurt’s stabbing bass punctures the synth’s driving melodies, all set to a disco beat.

‘The Promise’ conjures nostalgic pacts we all made to each other as kids, a reminder of the trust we put in those first and important friendships. Listen to and buy 'The Promise' at https://heartsandrockets.bandcamp.com/track/the-promise

Plaster of Paris - Lost Familiar album launch

Pack the spanx, grab a wig and glow up! Plaster of Paris launch debut album, Lost Familiar as part of Leaps and Bounds Music Festival, Saturday 24 July w spesh guests Delivery and Gut Health.

For their debut album the band have evolved their sound, with guest baritone saxophonist Maddy Mac filling the bottom end (think The Saints partying with Nina Hagan), plus some sneaky synth from Amy Chapman. The Plaster big band blow the roof off! Stay tuned.

Lost Familiar is set for release through Psychic Hysteria Wednesday 23 June 2021. Avail on limited edition 12” vinyl (red or black) from bandcamp & select indie record stores + streaming on all digital platforms.

Recorded and mixed by Casey Rice and Paul Maybury, and mastered by Nao Anzai, with incredibe artwork by Luke Fraser/Aht+.

Lyrically, Plaster of Paris engage listeners with humour and strong visual story telling, presenting cutting political motifs within catchy-AF hooks.

Plaster of Paris’ debut album, Lost Familiar is an epic rush from start to finish. Frenetic, raw, ferocious, and the launch is not to be missed!

Hearts and Rockets + Mystery Guest at the Tramway Hotel

Join Hearts and Rockets and Mystery Guest at The Tramway Hotel in the arvo of Saturday July 24 - part of this year's Leaps and Bounds Music Festival. Make sure that you pre-book here - It's $5 + booking fee.

Hearts and Rockets - www.heartsandrockets.bandcamp.com
Kalindy and Kurt are hard at work on album #3, and will be sharing a set of all new, unplayed and untested songs. A raw and fun approach to the songwriting process, it's set to be a hoot at one of their favourite haunts.

Mystery Guest - www.mysteryguestmelb.bandcamp.com
After the 2020 release of the synth-heavy pop debut “Octagon City” through Tenth Court, Mystery Guest emerge from lockdown with a new, stripped back sound. Combining lush harmonies and jazz sensibilities, they continue to explore themes of love and spirituality under capitalism, and the “manifesto” as a musical directive.
Get your tix via Oztix - $5 plus booking fee. Doors are at 3pm, with music from 4pm 'til 6pm.

This event will take place on the land of the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin nation. The artists pay respects to Wurundjeri elders past and present. We also wish to extend our respect to all first nations people upon whose land we live and work. This is stolen land and sovereignty has never been ceded.

*Leaps and Bounds Music Festival 2021 at The Tramway Hotel*

- Saturday arvos at the Tramway will be a place to experience and hear new music at two very different places in the creative cycle. This is a chance to hear music from two unique and much-loved acts on either side of a record release, a pivotal point and achievement for any artist and their songwriting evolution.

July 17 will see a performance from Claire Birchall with music off her most recent release ‘Running In Slow Motion’ (It Records) where we experience music at the other end, music that has been shaped, produced and recently released into the world.

The following Saturday on July 24, audience members get a sneak peek and performance of the next Hearts and Rockets release - music before it has a chance to go through the process of recording and production, songs not quite solidified before being immortalised inside a studio setting.

Double Vanity - Escalator single and video launch

Double Vanity and The Burrow Underground team together to launch a new single and video concept titled ‘Escalator’.  Local performance artist and painter Billi Lime and Melbourne born, New York based filmmaker Stephanie Gould met for one day and within 24 hours the two artists armed with the song’s lyrics, music and photographs, filmed a kaleidoscope of visuals. Stephanie then returned to NYC to remotely edit the footage, while the band and collaborators isolated during lockdown.

With launches and exhibitions cancelled during lockdown making it difficult to present this new work, The Burrow Underground stepped in with an online launch concept; a streamed YouTube watch party of the film clip and a physical shopfront window presentation of the clip and artwork for Yarra wanderers. The Burrow Underground have been exploring new ways to platform the work of local independent creatives and facilitate community connection through arts experiences, and the establishment of their new website, subscription platform and online channel will coincide with the Escalator launch.

1:30pm-7:30pm – The Burrow shopfront activation (pre-event)
7.30pm – video premiere live stream event Donate to support Double Vanity on bandcamp( https://doublevanitymusic.bandcamp.com/ ) and The Burrow Underground via their website (https://www.burrowunderground.com/subscribe).

Hearts and Rockets 'Milk Bar' single and video launch + Q&A

Hearts and Rockets return with a brand new single and video, and they’re celebrating with a virtual launch as part of Leaps and Bounds Music Festival 7pm, Saturday June 20. Make sure you’re watching via facebook.com/heartsandrocketsband, when Kalindy and Kurt will play a set of new songs and old favourites before premiering the video for their next single, Milk Bar. They’ll also be answering your questions afterward!

Milk Bar was introduced into the band’s live set in late 2019 and quickly became a live favourite. Essentially a dream shopping list for anyone that grew up in Australia in the ‘80s and ‘90s, set to a catchy bass hook and some classic H&R repetitive synth and 808 beats. facebook.com/heartsandrocketsband
